Returns, Approvals & Tax

Returns for Stocked Items Only - No returns for Custom-Made Items or Special Orders

You can return a stocked product purchased from Gorgeous Creatures for a period of 3 days after receipt of delivery, and the parcel must be sent back to Gorgeous Creatures within 7 days of receipt (to be sent promptly).

Full details of any return and the reason why must be emailed to Gorgeous Creatures within 3 days of receipted delivery of the item.

We will give you the safest address and instructions to return your purchase. You will be responsible for any and all costs incurred in returning the product to Gorgeous Creatures in Auckland, New Zealand.

Return of goods will only be accepted where the products are returned in the condition in which they were dispatched from Gorgeous Creatures.

Returns will NOT be accepted where the item is used, damaged or incomplete in any way.

The freight cost to send you the original order will NOT be refunded as this cost has been consumed, only the cost of the goods will be refunded.

Custom-made or made-to-order products (like cowhide ottomans or possum fur throws & blankets) can not be returned if you don't like them once made. You can't change your mind.

These items have been made especially for you to your specifications. Talk to us about any issues and we will try to resolve them with you.

Change of Mind or Cancelled Orders Before the Parcel had Been Dispatched

If you change your mind and cancel an order before the order has been sent, or request a refund for any reason before the order has been sent, we reserve the right to refund the cost of the purchase LESS the bank transaction fee of 2.75% for NZ credit cards and 3.25% for international credit cards.

This is the fee that the payment gateway takes from us and we do not always get this fee reversed,  even if we refund the customer through the payment gateway.

If we CAN refund the fees we will, but if the money has already settled into our bank this is the point where we can not return the bank fee. 

Approvals within New Zealand

One of the hardest things to overcome when buying online is the ability to see a product before committing to purchasing it. Our New Zealand only approvals service is our way of reducing the risk for our customers.

If you would like to see a cowhide rug or other stocked Gorgeous Creatures product in your own home, we can lend them to you for up to 3 days.

We will take a note of your name, full address, photo ID and will hold your credit card details until you decide if you want to go ahead with the purchase. There is no obligation to buy.

We understand that investing in a cowhide rug or other valuable item can be a large commitment both emotionally & financially. You need to be sure you are making the right choice. The limit for approvals is two items at a time.

Gorgeous Creatures will happily deliver or freight your stocked product choices anywhere in New Zealand on approval.

The catch is that if you want to return the items, then you are responsible for paying for the return track & trace courier back to the Gorgeous Creatures showroom in Auckland regardless of whether you purchase any items or not.

This is your part in the two way relationship of trust and honesty.

Options For International Customers

If you would like to see a cowhide rug or other Gorgeous Creatures products in your own home, the only way is to purchase the product through our website, knowing that you can return it if you are not happy.

If you do not like your order when it arrives, notify us that you want to return it and why within 3 days of your orders arrival, and dispatch back to us within 7 days of its arrival.

The product must be in the same ‘new’ condition as you received it from Gorgeous Creatures with all packaging & labels still attached.

You will need to pay for the return courier to Auckland, New Zealand with tracking and insurance. Once it arrives, we will then refund the purchase price (less cost of freight that has already been consumed) onto your credit card.

We will give you our preferred address and instructions so that it clears NZ customs smoothly. Please do not send your order back without first communicating with us.

You are Responsible for Paying any Taxes & Duties

When you shop online, buying from a country overseas you should always assume that taxes and duties may apply. 

When your order arrives at the customs border it will be assessed and if tax and duty are payable they will contact you for payment before they release your order.

Each country has a different threshold for when tax is applied.

For example in the UK anything over the value of 15 pounds will have VAT added by UK customs + a clearance fee. In Canada orders over CAD$20 will have Canadian GST added + a clearance fee. The USA has a high threshold of US$800 before tax is applied. Our prices do not include these taxes.

Australia is different. On the 1st July 2018 Australia changed the tax law so that ALL imported purchases are liable for 10% Australian GST. We are now registered for Australian GST so the GST is paid when you buy online from Gorgeous Creatures and we pay it to ATO on your behalf.

If you refuse to accept a parcel and it is returned to us due to non-payment of your local country tax, duty and customs fees (for example the item is held by customs for fee payment) then any right of return is cancelled.

A 25% re-stocking fee will be charged on any orders returned for non-payment of tax and customs fees (for example if you fail to pay UK VAT if you live in the UK or Canadian GST is you live in Canada).
